You have to love Allston for what it is: Kinda dirty, kind of a joke on itself, but a whole lot of fun. Great Scott is the same. Primarily a bar, but also a hotspot for local music, Great Scott is the epicenter for hipster cool in Allston. The place is an example of odd parings. There's blue-collar 40-somethings sitting and drinking with the skinny pants'd hipsters. They have PBR and expensive imported beer. The last time I was in there, some indie band was playing on the stage, but they were showing the Red Sox playoff game on the TV. Every Friday they host The Pill (http://www.thepillboston.com/), Boston's longest running Brit-pop/electro night.
